Welcome to Term 3 and another busy term of learning.

My teaching philosophy is to have a safe learning environment where the children can prosper and take challenges in their learning without the fear of making mistakes. I believe we will have a fabulous year of learning together.

This term for the whole 10 weeks, 2C will have Miss Eden Whitaker, who is a 4th year intern completing her final year of teaching from the University of Newcastle.

Our 2C team for Term 3 will consist of:

Mrs Donna Schofield (Assistant Principal), Miss Eden Whitaker (Intern), Miss Sarah Turner (STEM RFF), Mrs Laura Rhodes (Library/ HSIE), Mrs Jan Audet – Learning Support and Intervention.

Literacy: Literacy Groups continues every week on Tuesday through to Thursday mornings from 9.20-10.30am. During this time, we have a variety of reading activities, guided and group writing and spelling as well as language and grammar activities.

Our concept-based unit for this term ‘Intertextuality' where the students will be learning that some texts are connected with other texts.

Home readers are available in the classroom for the children to change when they have completed a book. The children are also encouraged to read chapter books, magazines, recipe books and other reading material they have at home or from their local library. Remember to record all reading in their Home Reader Diaries.

Numeracy:  We will continue our ‘hands on' TEN program (Targeting Early Numeracy), where learning and problem solving takes place using a variety of concrete materials and fun activities. This term we will be covering: the following topics: Whole Number, Addition and Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, Patterns and Algebra, Time, Volume and capacity, Length, 2D Space and Data.

Geography and Library:  Mrs Rhodes will be teaching them about the topic, ‘Around the World' during their Library time on Tuesday afternoons. Premier Reading Challenge books can be entered online including those books read in class and library time.

Technology: Miss Turner will have the class on Wednesday and the children will enjoy investigating technology.

Personal Development/Health/Physical Education: In PD and Health, we will be covering Child protection topics and in PE, Dance will be on Thursday and Aerobics on Friday.
